  • MC-505 sucks at doing TB-303.
  • Honestly, why would you think a PCM synth like MC-505 will excel at doing TB-303? The answer for the best 303 is the same as the answer to the best MiniMoog, the best Pro-5... get the real thing.
  • MC-505 is full of non-overwritable crappy presets.
  • If memory usage is your top criterion for judging a synth, your logic has a serious problem.
  • Name one synth people agree on its wonderful presets and therefore it is a good synth. That's right. There are none. Not to mention that it's only stupid to judge a synth on how good its presets are.
  • MC-505's sounds dated.
  • That actually implies your ability to program a synth sucks. The MC-505 synth engine is full programmable and identical to the Roland JV/XP series (except the wave sets). It will only sound great if you have the talent to make it sound great and that's true for any programmable synths.
  • The sequencer on the MC-505 sucks.
  • If you love pattern based sequencers and you think MC-505's sequencer sucks, then maybe you are right. However, if you are more into linear sequencing, apparently, MC-505 is not for you. (FYI, you can edit every single MIDI message in the MC-505 sequencer, you just have to learn to read the manual.)

  • MC-505 is overpriced.
  • If you actually do use all that the MC-505 has to provide and you still think it's overpriced, then maybe you are right. Note: by "using all" here means fully programmable synthesizer, sequecer, RPS, D-Beam, mute buttons, mixer, bass boost, arpeggiator, knobs and sliders, EFXs, etc. If you don't lot of these, then obviously you have got yourself the wrong gear.
  • MC-505 doesn't sound analog.
  • News flash!!! MC-505 is not an analog synthesizer.
  • It does not have individual effect processors per sound. It won't retain effect settings in pattern mode.
  • So far in the history of 100s of commercial synthesizers, especially for PCM box like the 505. There are none that will do those two things. It's only common.
  • It's 'Groove Approved'.
  • What you need to do is to do anything you can to get exposed to less mass media. After that, start thinking for yourself. Try to figure out about what are actually essense of things. Judging a synth from its commercial copy demonstates you are another mass media influence victims.
  • MC-505 has bugs.
  • If you think Waldorf Q, Access Virus, Nord Modular, Novation Nova, E-mu Proteus 2000, Windows NT, Linux, etc., also suck because they too have bugs, then who knows?, maybe you right? Hmmmm....
  • There is a distortion in the MC-505's outputs
  • More people don't think there is any distortion in the MC-505 outputs. If you do and your Bass Boost knob is set on high, then I don't know what to say. Or if you do and the mix level is too hot, then I don't know what to say either.
  • Like the MC-303, the MC-505 is a toy, and so not a serious synth
  • That implies you agree with the following logic. MC-80, Mc Hammer and Mc Donald all suck. Because, like the MC-303, they are toys, not serious synths.
  • No sampling features
  • Again, you got the wrong gear. MC-505 is not a sampler.
  • The MC-505 filter sounds digital
  • News Flash!!! MC-505 is a digital synth.
  • MC-505 is only good for the people who can't program for themselves
  • Wow! The MC-505 will program things for you!? That will put all musicians and programmers out of work then. Seriously, MC-505 does not program anything for you. Just like any other tools, you have to do it yourself.
